Policies, Terms and Conditions:

Just like you, we hate fine print. We are truly sorry that we have to have at least some of this on the site.

(Before you get into it, you have to promise not to tell our lawyers what we think about this stuff. They're nice, smart people but they don't spend nearly enough time outdoors on the water!)


 
1. Shipping Policy  
Our shipping folks are really energetic. Most orders received before 2:00 PM CST will ship the same day, provided the product you ordered is in stock. Most orders received after 2:00 PM  CST will ship the next business day.

If you need an order to be shipped the same day, and it is after 2:00 PM you, can call in your order and check to see if it can still be shipped the same day.

Orders are not normally processed or shipped on Saturday or Sunday (a lot of times, that when we are out paddling), but, if for some reason, you have to have it (and you realize that the shippers charge a lot extra) call us and we'll do our absolute best to make it happen.

We've shipped a lot of stuff over the years. We swear to tell the truth as best we know (and nothing but the truth) when it comes to when your package is going to arrive but we can't get it exactly right.

2. Multiple Product Orders  
When you order more than one product, we will make every attempt to ship everything in the order at the same time.

If something you order is not available at the time your order is ready to go out the door, we will ship the other items as soon as we get them, unless you tell us differently.

Just because of the way things work, we may charge you a shipping charge for everything in your order with the first product(s) shipped. If we do this, you won't see a shipping charge on your other products.

3. Out-of-Stock Products  
Oops! There may be times when the product you have ordered is out-of-stock which will delay fulfilling your order. We promise that we will keep you informed via email and or telephone of any products that you have ordered that are out-of-stock and can't be shipped immediately shipment.

If you decide to cancel your order at any time before your out-of-stock product ships, we'll be unhappy but we completely understand.

4. Order Acceptance Policy  
After you purchase from us, you'll receive an electronic or paper confirmation that we received your order. This confirmation is just a record of your transaction on our site but does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell.

Rutabaga reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order for any reason or to supply less than the quantity you ordered of any item.

Believe us when we say that if this happens (like maybe our suppliers can't deliver what we asked them to) we'll be on the phone or e-mail to you ASAP and work something out - maybe a refund or maybe an alternate product.

5. Returns  
Sometimes, stuff happens to products.

Here are the details of the return process at Rutabaga:
  • You can return products within 30 days of your purchase ·
  • A receipt must accompany all returns or Rutabaga must be able to track the purchase through customer information
  • Products you are returning must be in “new-sellable” condition (able to be put back into stock and re-sold)
  • Please include a description of the problem along with your return
  • Refunds will be made back to the credit card used or a Rutabaga refund check will be issued
  • We reserve the right to charge a 20% restocking fee on returns of special order items
  • Sales of “closeout” items are considered final and not eligible for return
  • If we make a mistake (everyone has a bad day once in awhile) and ship you the wrong item we'll make it right if you let us know and return it to us within 30 days from the date of purchase. If you receive the wrong product or it's damaged, we will reimburse you for return shipping costs.

6. Typographical Errors  
If it happens that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to typographical error on our site we might refuse or cancel any orders placed for product listed at the incorrect price.

We may refuse or cancel any such orders whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is canceled, we will immediately issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the incorrect price.

7. Taxes  
Yea .. death and taxes are the only two things in the world that are certain. We automatically charge and withhold the applicable sales tax for orders that are shipped to and delivered to addresses in Wisconsin. For orders shipped to other states, we give you the responsibility for dealing with all sales taxes or other taxes.

8. Privacy  

Privacy is really important to us at Rutabaga. We keep your personal information private and secure. When you make a purchase from our site, you provide your name, email address, credit card information, address, phone number, and a password. We need this information to process your orders, to keep you updated on your orders and to personalize your shopping experience.

We keep our servers secure so that your information is protected using advanced encryption techniques and firewall technology.

Sometimes, we want to keep you informed about our latest offers, products and happenings at Rutabaga.  We also know that sometimes you have information overload and just want to unplug (and go paddling). We make sure that you may unsubscribe from our newsletters by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email you receive from us.

Not that it's a regular thing, but if you enter any of our contests or prize drawings, you provide your name, email address and mailing address. If you win, first, we'll celebrate with you and then we will send the prize to the address entered and notify you by email. When you enter a contest or drawing we also are going to be included in our newsletter list to receive notice of promotions, specials and new additions to the Rutabaga site. And again, if information overload is getting you down, you may unsubscribe from this news list by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email received.

We use "cookies" (not the oatmeal or chocolate chip kind but the little bits of information we write on your local hard disk) to keep track of your current shopping session to personalize your experience and so that you may retrieve your shopping cart at any time. Really, what this means is that "cookies" help us remember who you are so that when you come back to the site after dinner, we can show you your shopping cart with your items in it.

9. Privacy on Other Web Sites  
Other sites accessible through our site have their own privacy policies and data collection practices. Please consult each site's privacy policy. Our Store is not responsible for the actions of third parties.

10. Links  
We don't know it all (even though we know a lot), so sometimes we have links to other sites on the Internet that are owned and operated by third parties. We check these sites out really carefully before we put these links on our site. You acknowledge that we can't and don't write their content so we're not responsible for how their site works or what it contains.

11. Credit Cards  
We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard,  and Discover and we won't add a surcharge for using your credit card to make purchases.

Please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number (i.e. the address and phone number your credit card bank has on file for you). Anytime this stuff is wrong, the credit card company puts up a fuss and things slow down until we make them happy.

Your credit card will be billed when you hit the "CONFIRM PURCHASE" button on the checkout page. That's why we rush to ship your order as fast as we can.

If you get your monthly credit card statement, joyfully open it and find that any charges from Rutabaga don't look right call or write us. We promise to get right on it and figure out what's bonked!

12. Copyright and Trademark Notice  
All of us at Rutabaga work really hard on this site.It's a labor of love.

Unless we note otherwise, all of the stuff on this site, including the text, site design, logos, graphics, icons, and images, as well as the selection, assembly and arrangement thereof (good word!), are the sole property of Rutabaga.

And we might as well say it now, up front, the manufacturers that we work with are great people and have supplied us with some of the product images we use. Props go out to them!

If you've gotten this far through the legal stuff, not only are our lawyers happy but you deserve a reward! So here's the last bit of legal mumbo jumbo we have to put on the site.

These Conditions will supersede any terms and/or conditions you include with any purchase order, regardless of whether Rutabaga signs them or not. We reserve the right to make changes to this site and these Conditions at any time.
